Dong assures support for farmers
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Third District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales yesterday assured that he will support farmers of the Pampanga’s third district stressing that farm inputs will be at the priority of his assistance programs.
This came after Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago, together with Third District Representative Aurelio ‘Dong’Gonzales Jr., and City Agriculturist Cristina Sangumay, leads the turn-over of a mini farm tractor and rice combine harvester to the Sanduguan Farmers Association of the City of San Fernando on May 19 in culmination of the Farmer’s Week celebration.
Gonzales said the awards will further inspire farmers and cooperatives here to do better with their work and help in the development and progress of their respective barangays.
His office, he said, is continuously providing assistance to farmers and their families.
There are also institutionalize programs like fund subsidies for cooperatives and fund assistance for agri-entrepreneurs, he said.
“Farmer groups and cooperatives can coordinate with our office so that we can identify programs that would best fit their needs,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said the farmers and cooperatives should maintain close coordination with government line agencies for assistances and available programs.
He said that his office is facilitating such programs and is also giving fund assistance to farmers.
Gonzales said that he is also giving medical and financial assistance to farmers and their families aside from scholarships given to children of farmers and indigents.
