SM City Pampanga joins Brigada Eskwela 2017
MEXICO, Pampanga – More than 70 SM volunteer employees on Saturday participated in the last day of Brigada Eskwela 2017 in its partner-school, Masamat Elementary School in this town.
SM City Pampanga Mall Manager Aaron Montenegro, together with other mall executives, maintenance crew and security personnel embodied the spirit of unity and volunteerism by sharing their free time, efforts and resources to ensure cleanliness and preparedness of their neighboring school community in time for this year’s opening of classes.
The volunteer employees joined hands in cleaning and beautifying the school campus by painting its fence, sweeping and polishing classrooms and corridors, repairing tables and chairs, and restoration of school grounds.
Montenegro said that SM’s participation in the Department of Education’s maintenance week is just one of the mall management’s way of giving back to its host communities and to their valued shopper.
He also lauded the Masamat Elementary School, which has been their partner for four years now, for consecutively winning as one of the most competitive schools in the region since 2014.
Juanito Rigor, Masamat Elementary School Principal, expressed gratitude to the mall in behalf of the whole school community for continuously helping their campus not only during the opening of classes, but all throughout the year.
Through SM’s assistance in the past years, the library of Masamat Elementary School was repaired and repainted and other facilities were restored, Rigor said. He stressed that the generosity of SM and its employees helped in further uplifting the morale of more than 200 students and nine faculties in the campus.
