EFA: A TEACHER’S DEVOTION
FE S. INTAL
How do we adhere to the universal goal to provide a child the quality education as promised in the World Conference on Education for All (EFA)?
The illustration of its four major interventions defined in the UNESCO’s framework for Action to attain the Basic Learning Needs such as, to institutionalize early childhood care and development, provide universal quality primary education, eradicate illiteracy, and launch continuing education programs for adults and out of school youth. These are bases in upholding the quality standards in rendering globally competitive learning to our learners.
Educators in the field are challenged to realize the very core commitment of the country via the Department of Education to mitigate poverty and illiteracy in the country. Our main participation as teachers is to deliver quality education in our respective posts. Performing the vital responsibilities as teachers in highest self-esteem as possible is basically expected to us. Letting our learners feel that they have this sense of belongingness would mean a tacit realization of EFA’s central goal that is to educate the youth to their maximum advantage.
Thus, one dedicated and selfless educator cannot do it alone. But starting it by a teacher himself may mean an entire whole as the others may follow. It is somewhat through the teacher’s genuine and compassionate heart that they may adhere to the universal goal of the EFA as pledged to every learning institution not only nationally but also universally.
