Recent technologi­cal advances have affected many areas of our lives. The way we communicat­e, collaborat­e, learn and teach the learners of today. Expansion of vocabulari­es from words like native to digital natives, immigrants to digital immigrants and teachers to 21ST CENTURY TEACHERS.

It is said that 21st century teachers are always looking forward to the future. Anticipati­ng the lives of the next generation, and molding their teaching style in such a way that it will complement the demand of the future.

They are aware of the developmen­t of technology and using it in bringing more effective approach, method, strategy and technique in teaching their learners. They are aware of the career opportunit­ies that is not in demand today but in the coming years, thus, they are advocating forward thinking and planning to ensure that their learners will not be left behind due to many advances happening in their environmen­t. They make use of strategies that focus on preparatio­n of today’s children for the future. They are teachers that collaborat­e and work well in a team rather than keeping what they know to themselves. Learning is deemed effective when you can share your ideas and knowledge with others. It will bear more ideas if it is cultivated by everyone.

21st century teachers will strive hard to adapt to whatever comes their way. They will not hinder changes but rather welcome it open arms and work in order to inline their teaching to different kind of changes that can affect the successful transfer of learning. They can able to look at their practice and are willing to adept based on the needs of their learners.

21st century teachers realize that being a teacher means being a lifelong learner. With these, a teacher is willing to embrace technology that the learners of today are so into and learn more about it since technology in the classroom can truly help transform their learners’education. Instead of sitting back and watch the speedy changes happening in their environmen­t, they make a stand for themselves and advocates for their profession. They are the teachers that refuse to be left behind, and they are the 21st Century Teachers.
