KAREN R. GUINTU

As teachers, we develop our students’ whole aspects like spiritually, mentally, morally, socially and physically to have a competitive mindset in a systematized way and this can only happened through education. Teachers serve as guides who give directions to students. They set standards and goals which will be helpful for students’growth and development as individuals while taking the road to success. Therefore, an understanding on how students learn improves the selection of teaching strategies that best suit their learning styles. This matching of instructional strategies to their individual learning styles will consistently result to positive results.

Apparently, our students come into classes with various levels of motivation to learn. Therefore, we want our students to try hard to learn during the unit and to continue learning about the subject area after the class ends. The question of how to motivate students in school is one that has been frequently posed but has proved challenging to answer. Hence, in order to increase the motivational impact of teachers, here are things which can be considered in order to gain the interest and enthusiasm of students. Teach topics in a way that has potential for immediate application and possible benefit to the students. Make sure that, before each class session, remind yourself why the material is meaningful and interesting. In the same way, relate subject matter to the specific interests as well as to the everyday experiences of students. Establishing a positive relationship with your students is also needed in order to gain their trust. Finally, encourage students to take pride in their learning efforts and accomplishments. Teachers create an impact as to whether or not the students have captured the concepts of the said subject every time they deliver certain topics.
