Capitol celebrates Family Planning Month
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The Provincial Government of Pampanga will celebrate Family Planning Month through various activities for indigenous people, local planners, regional partner agencies and the general public.
The event is in cooperation with the Commission on Population Region III (Popcom-3).
Dubbed as “Kapag Ang Pamilya ay Planado… Laging Panalo”, the celebration aims to spread awareness and increase contraceptive prevalence rate in the region to meet the need for modern family planning.
According to Popcom3 Director Eleanor Cura, family planning month activities are mandated to help all Filipino families determine and achieve their desired family size through modern family planning stated under the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Act of 2012 further strengthened by Executive Order 12, 2017 of the Duterte Administration.
Cura also stressed the need to recognize couples who intend to use family planning but do not have access to methods or information.
There are still some who use traditional methods that are less effective than the modern family planning, the director said.
“Through these activities initiated by Popcom-3 for the 2017 family planning month, we also help Popcom’s commitment of empowering Filipino families,” she added.
Among the lined up activities include “IP: Isang Pangarap, Isang Pamilya, Isang Pamayanan” that will be participated by selected communities in Capas, Tarlac in coordination with local government unit and more than 20 regional agencies and stakeholders.
Popcom-3 is also scheduled to orient the local offices of Angeles and San Jose, Nueva Ecija on establishing RPRH City in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH). They will also conduct seminars among government employees of partner agencies that will run until the last quarter of this year.
