AIDE MEMOIRE

ROLANDO P. PANTIG

In our everyday living, we are bombarded with lots of work, hurrying of time or surely meeting the deadline, sometimes we do forget our inner self. Talking too much or being so energetic, we do forget what we is expected of us. Moreover, some I may say do practice the courtesy of having a good discipline.

We may not be aware of but oftentimes we do ignore it. With regards to teachers, they have a good discipline, but most likely, some may forget what is expected from them. Yes, its true that teachers are also humans, they sometimes have problems and insecurities which do affect their performances in the school setting, but then, we need to look-out what we have pledged to our profound vocation.

For students, some do forget the word discipline, well, to compare the youth that we have then to the modern Y generations of today, still they are entirely different. I have observed two or three classes from where I am connected with, I found students who are talking or doing something indefinable while the teacher is busy discussing the lesson. Some students are having these mannerisms that after a teacher ends up his/her subject they go outside and do mauling to some of their schoolmates. Others do annoying sounds or noise which disrupt other classes or in-general the class itself, some do go out and not to mention they do not go back again resulting to cutting classes, some do not respect their teachers, to mention with, the courtesy they pay to their teachers, saying po and opo I may say and to teachers, ingat kayo at baka ma-Tag ka ng ibang name. Respect is not asked, it is gained. Respect begets respect.

Wearing of uniform is not a must for students in accordance with DepEdMemo/Orders,butwearinganappropriateoneforschoolingis needed. Wearing of bling-blings is okay, but when you overdo the entire process, meaning wearing everything all at the same time is something unpleasant. Some imitate celebrities like Ariel and Maverick who actually dress in a very usual way because they want to get people’s attention.

Earrings, are supposedly worn by ladies? And why do gentlemen wear them? Do not misinterpret me, I am no against freedom of expression, but then again you are in high school and you should not only do what is right but you also have to act your age. The school serves as your training ground where you can gain the ample amount of knowledge that you need to live a decent life. The school is not the right avenue to try and experiment on things where they do not really matter much. What you need in school are pens, books, and the right attitude to learn, not things which are only used to make “porma”.

Well the Internet I may say is becoming famous with students nowadays. They do love to surf the net, using different search engines for research, entertainment and communication purposes. I am wondering why is it that some students are fond of using photos which are not theirs; don’t they know that there is a risk in using other people’s pictures? I am positive about this because I myself is a Techno savvy and I found out that my daughter is a victim of this act. Well the truth is my younger daughter is beautiful, and to think that people have used her pictures as primary photos with their facebook account is healthy absurd. To win friends, we don’t have to pretend that we are beautiful or handsome, it’s not the looks that counts but it’s what inside a person which matters most in life. We must know that internet is worldwide so we need to be careful of what we are dealing with. Don’t you know that you are liable of the actions that you make? Be careful, you might get sued with what you are doing.

Remember, we do follow rules and regulations, IN and Out of the school. We are bounded with these different guidelines, so we must amend to these. Even teachers are bounded by certain laws to follow. This is a challenge to all, prove yourself worthy and you are assured of a better and brighter future ahead of you. Don’t forget that the youth of today are the hope of the next generation.
