Sleeping Giants

-

Sleeping giants may just stir and wake up for a perfunctory fight in 2019 elections.

A seeded candidate for City Mayor is Angeles City Vice Mayor Bryan Nepomuceno, concededly the frontrunner by right of office. All others in the rumble are motivated by a dream (Alex); an obsession (Mamac) and the man who came to dinner came to dinner, Lito Lapid.

Like male dogs that can scent a bitch in heat a distance away, the politician traces female pheromone and react accordingly. Through press cons and publicity releases he signals his intent. Councilor Pogi beats the mayoral aspirants in propaganda output. Mamac has his friends in media who help him in his publicity. Lapid needs no publicity, even his critic Arayat Mayor Alejandrino contributes to his popularity by bashing his role in the movie series featuring ugly sides of the place. Bon seems to carry an axe on the former governor whom he suspected of supporting his rivals for the mayoralty in past elections.

Cauguiran has support of the 30,000 card bearing members of a registered Angeles-based political party. People believe he plays a yeoman’s role in the Pamintuan Social Con- tract With the People which transformed the city into a transmogrified community.

I will not discount the entry of former Vice Mayor Vicky in the context. Watch her future cameo roles in indie films, hinting interest in the race for either Vice M. or mayor

Speaking of sleeping giants do not forget the Kong, the man for all seasons. He’s the only man who sleeps with one eye open.

Given the above privileges, let us see the future exodus of other national government agencies to Clark. That’s true decongestion in act i o n .

***** I just read that Dr. Bong Alvaro PhD, former city administrator has joined the PDP-group of Senate president Pimentel in an oath-taking of new members last week. Newsmen see one of the major investors at Clark in active politics in the 1st District.

MONTHS after President Rodrigo Duterte identified a certain “Peter Lim” as among the big names in the illegal drugs trade in the country, a complaint has finally been filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Cebu businessman Peter Lim and several others for allegedly engaging in the trade of illegal drugs in Makati and in Central Visayas and Eastern Vi say as.

The complaint was filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). The filing of the complaint ended speculations on who the “Peter Lim” that the President mentioned was. And now that the facts of the case have been presented, the businessman will be
