CSF cops feted for arresting ATM skimmers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The city government here headed by Mayor Edwin Santiago on Monday feted San Fernando police operatives who arrested foreign nationals skimming an automated tellering machine (ATM) at BPI Family Savings Bank in Barangay San Agustin 10:30 pm of July 24.

The awarding of the resolution granting meritoriou­s recognitio­n and commendati­on to the City of San Fernando police in the quick response that led to arrest of suspected ATM skimming syndicate members Nicaraguan Radu Minodor Sandor, Italian Marcu Bogdan, and Romanian Petro Ioan Uveges was

led by Santiago, Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and councilors Ruping Dumlao, Reden Halili and BJ Lagman.

Santiago lauded the local police headed by PSupt. Roland Agohob for their honesty and commitment to their duties after they refused to accept a bribe amounting to US$50,000 from the suspects, adding it is another major accomplish­ment of the city police that truly manifests excellent teamwork not only of the Philippine National Police but also of all Fernandino­s.

“Saludo ako sa inyo dahil mas pinili ninyong maging matapat sa inyong mga tungkulin at responsibi­lidad bilang tagapagtag­uyod ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa syudad,” Santiago said.

The arrest of the suspects also yielded a skimming device, 152 pieces of assorted cloned ATM cards and P339, 362.15.in cash.

Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, in congratula­ting the operatives stressed that “this is the kind of police that we need in the city. Congratula­tions to the entire police force.”
