Capitol release Philhealth cards for 3rd district towns
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda yesterday led the release of Philhealth cards to third district indigents as she reiterated her call for beneficiaries to avail of check-ups and other medical services stressing that the preventive approach is better than waiting to cure any ailment.
Governor Pineda was joined by town leaders of Mexico and Santa Ana as she distributed the cards to members of the family beneficiaries. Some 1,317 were distributed to recipients in Santa Ana town with another 2,644 in Mexico town. Earlier, Governor Pineda had reiterated her call to public medical and government health providers to serve the general public especially the underprivileged with love and respect.
This, after recent incident of alleged negligence in one public hospital of the province. She added that the province has a policy on zero balance billing for indigents.
The distribution is aimed at providing help for the poor, which is being carried out by the Department of Health, Philhealth, and the provincial government.
“Alaga Ka” is aimed at helping Filipinos benefit from the health services that PhilHealth offers for a minimum or zero balance bill. Alaga, which stands for ALAmin at GAmitin, is a campaign strategy that aims to better disseminate appropriate information regarding rights and privileges under the present Kalusugan Pangkalahatan to Philhealth members, especially to qualified dependents of indigentsponsored program and
organized groups as well as land-based members of those under the Overseas Workers Program and employees of the Department of Education.
The beneficiaries were identified through the national household targeting system for poverty reduction by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office led by Elizabeth Baybayan.
Governor Pineda then proceeded to Apalit to distribute 2,079 Philhealth cards to Apalit indigents.
