National Police (PNP) Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) arrested a civilian for allegedly posing as a police officer to be able to extort money from drug suspects, a police official said Thursday, August 10.

CITF spokesperson Jewel Nicanor said Joseph Ruallo was arrested in an entrapment operation around 3 p.m. On Wednesday in Pearl Drive, Fairview, Quezon City.

He said the suspect identified himself as a police officer and negotiated with the parents of an arrested illegal drug peddler to give him P50,000 in order to downgrade the criminal charge against the latt er.

The demand however was reduced to P15,000.

The complainants immediately reported the extortion to the CITF hat prompted them to conduct an entrapment operation.

A calibre 45 pistol was confiscated from Euallo along with the boodle money worth P14,000 and the marked money amounting to P1,000 with another cash of P5,070.

Nicanor said they also found out that Euallo is the driver of the Quezon City Police District Station 5Commander Superintendent Bobby Glen Ganipac.

"Part po ng ongoing investigation in coordination with District Director, QCPD (Guillermo Eleazar) ung determination ng possible involvement ni Superintendent Ganipac sa incident," he said.

Euallo was brought to the QC Regional Trial Court on Thursday for inquest proceedings.
