Mayor vows help to families of ‘mistaken identity’ victims

MAGALANG — Mayor Malou Lacson of this city has vowed to help the families of two alleged victims of mistaken identity seek justice.

Bernard Nucup and Hernan Galang, both of Barangay San Francisco here were allegedly involved in a double slay.

Nucup was killed during the purported hot pursuit conducted by policemen assigned at Concepcion town in Tarlac province on August 12.

Lacson said the local officials are now providing assistance to their constituen­ts in terms

of financial and legal actions to determine the truth behind the case.

Relatives of Galang, who is now detained at the Concepcion police station, fear for his safety, according to Lacson.

The mayor said she directed his policemen, under the leadership of Superinten­dent Al T. Cabauatan, to coordinate with the Concepcion police.

Lacson said she suggested for Galang’s transfer to the Tarlac Provincial Jail in order to ensure his safety.

Magalang Vice Mayor Norman Lacson is also in constant communicat­ion with Concepcion Mayor Andy Lacson regarding the issue, according to the mayor.

Lacson expressed hopes that similar incident will not happen in the future.

Nucup and Galang were both working as sales and delivery men of Lazada Online Shopping and Deals, the mayor said.

“We will extend all possible help and I’m sure that our Kabalens will also support the victims’ families seek justice,” Lacson said.
