EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
ECHELON R. YALUNG
Growth is a result of a job well done. As a manager, how often do your employees listen to you? Do you efficiently take charge among your co-employees? Do you communicate intelligently and let your employees make choices for the organization’s improvement? Do you accept all the responsibilities given at hand? How do you deal with confrontations you encounter every day? Do you speak up and take a stand for what you believe in and in behalf of your employees? Do you recognize their efforts and give them inspiration to strive harder?
A department’s productivity is one of the top goals a manager can ask for. When a unit works cooperatively as one, the simpler the job gets done. But in some cases, there are instances where the work is not done immediately due to ineffective employee management. This is where the manager should stand firm and deliver out his/ her policies for the improvement of the organization as a whole. It is not an easy task. Pointing your employees to the right direction and making them take orders from you takes lots of effort and guts. But this would be possible if you had that one factor they need which is respect. Once you gave them your respect as a fellow employee, respect shall return undoubtedly. Besides respect, a manager must observe everything in his/ her department and not be afraid of change. There are other factors in obtaining an efficient and effective workplace. Communicate intelligently. Accept responsibility. Deal with confrontation wisely. Respect your staff. Speak up for what you believe in. These special factors will be of great help for a manager and its organization. — oOo— The author is Administrative Officer II at Department of Education, Madapdap Resettlement Senior High School
