Kris Aquino confirmed to join cast of 'Crazy Rich Asians'

-

KThe confirmation was made by the book author himself, Kevin Kwan, during Friday's guest appearance on ANC's "Headstart".

"Kris Aquino is part of the cast," he said. "I'm absolutely not allowed to say anything other than that."

Kwan added that the television host/actress will have a special part in the film adaptation.

Asked why he personally chose Aquino to be part of the big movie, the author said the Queen of All Media is "perfect for the role".

"I want Filipinos in this movie. We have two actually, Nico Santos, the comedian is also in the movie. I just have a soft spot for her (Aquino)," Kwan said.

"She's Kris Aquino. What else is there to say. She has a dynamic personality and we just thought she's just perfect for the role," he added.

To recall, Aquino left for Singapore back in June to shoot for a "major Hollywood" flick.

While filming for a movie, the actress dropped the biggest hint that she's part of the "Crazy Rich Asians" cast when she posed for a photograph with the movies' lead, Constance Wu.

Wu was tapped to play Rachel Chu, a Stanford-educated economics professor who falls in love with one of Singapore's most eligible bachelors, who happens to be the heir to his families' massive fortune.

"Crazy Rich Asians" movie rights were acquired by Warner Bros. in October and it was, later on, announced that Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno and Michelle Yeoh are all part of the cast.

Meanwhile, Kwan is currently in the country for his Manila Book Tou r.
