P10M PCSO building in Pampanga opened
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “A new and top-class building that will now set a trend on government p r oj ect s.”
This was how Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz described their newly-constructed branch in Pampanga which was inaugurated yesterday.
Corpuz formally received the P10-million building, donated by the provincial government, during the blessing and turnover ceremonies at the Diosdado Macapagal Regional Government Center.
During his acceptance speech, Corpuz lauded Governor Lilia Pineda for her initiative to provide a conducive place for the PCSO personnel and the people.
Corpuz disclosed that Pineda was one of the first officials who offered assistance when PCSO started establishing in the province in 2014 by means of finding rent-free offices.
“Governor Pineda did not just give us a house, but a very warm home that can accommodate the needy Kapampangans,” Corpuz said.
“Actually, I am now thinking if the Central Office and Pampanga branch can swap places. Sila nalang doon, kami dito,” he added.
Corpuz also said that the two-storey building is a perfect resemblance of the hospitality and enthusiastic traits of Kapampangans in welcoming their families and visitors.
He also urged other local government units to emulate the initiative, generosity and the willingness of the provincial government of Pampanga to provide quality service to Kapampangans.
“This building is setting a trend on the quality of public service. Sa sobrang appreciation ko, the beauty of this building and generosity of Governor Pineda will aleays be included in my speech wherever I am,” he said.
Pineda said the building is a form of payback for all the assistance the PCSO extended to Kapampangans.
She disclosed that PCSO has downloaded around P1.2-billion funds to Pampanga since Pineda assumed her post in 2010.
She added that the charity-arm of the government allocates P800-million daily for the medical needs of Kapampangans.
“Gusto ko man sabihin na payback ko ito sa kanilaz pero ito talaga ay para sa Kapampangan din. Sila ang mas makikinabang kasi hindi na sila maghihintay na sa madumi at mainit na lugar dahil may bago na silang tutuluyan,” she said.
