LANGUAGE: VEHICLEFOR HUMAN INTERACTION
CARLITO L. MENDOZA Language is used to communicate, to explore, and to understand different situations. Hence, language affects society and society affects language. Language changes to accommodate new discoveries and transforms society according to social movements. Sociolinguistics pertains to knowledge about how language should be used in different contexts.
I understand that in order to be connected to society, one must use language. Language becomes a vehicle for human interaction. Society influences language and language influences society. When people used language they become part of society. The importance of Sociolinguistics is to elucidate why people speak differently in different social contexts. Since language is a phenomenon that is linked with the social structure and value systems of society. It is necessary to study its environment.
Language serves as a purpose and its essence is that language varies. Bear in mind, that in order for communication to take place, one must use language so it will serve its excellent aim: to connect each individual. It has been said that it does not matter how well a person knows the grammar but how a person uses communication for successful interaction and by getting along with other people.
