CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In line with the campaign against illegal drugs, the city government here certified its first drug-cleared village under the new parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

Barangay Pandaras was declared the first unaffected barangay in this city by Mayor Edwin Santiago and chief of Police Superintendent Roland Agohob on Tuesday.

Santiago said that Pandaras is the first to be certified this year after the DDB Board Regulation No. S. 2017 which sets the new parameters for barangay drug-clearing was released earlier this year.

“Ito ang una tapos tuluy-tuloy na tayo hanggang maging drugfree ang buong San Fernando. Iyan ang goal natin, ang matanggal ang ilegal na droga sa San Fernando, walang adik sa San Fernando,” he said.

In 2016, all drug suspects from 14 barangays in this capital city were successfully accounted for and were declared as drug-cleared.

Santiago said that making San Fernando drug-free takes much effort because it is considered a gateway of most towns and cities in Pampanga as well as of Central Luzon.

He stressed that the total number of its barangays, 35, and its geographical size must also be taken into consideration since San Fernando has the second most number of villages in Pampanga.

“But we cannot take any reason para hindi magawang drug-free ang San Fernando. Magtatrabaho kami sa gobyerno kasama ang kapulisan para maalis ang droga sa ating siyudad,” he said. and North
