CITY - Out of the 10 finalists in the 56th Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP), four were from Pampanga.

One on the list is Jessiery Mae S. Corpuz, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Biology at Angeles University Foundation (AUF), Cum Laude.

Apart from being an excellent student, she also proved her leadership skills when she was the University Student Council President elect.

Moreover, she is a community volunteer at heart.

As a student, a leader and a volunteer, many were curious how she was able to manage her time and priorities. When asked, she said: "Doon ako kung saan ako mas kailangan."

People are wondering: Is she still struggling? She said that yes, she is.

"Maybe the fact that spreading yourself thinly won't make you that efficient. I don't know, maybe I just have that human in me who loves to be in a lot of places at the same time. Like I need to ace my studies for me to maintain my scholarship, I constantly want to hold a position in an organization because I really want to help people and holding a position gives me a better leverage, participate in community outreach program in farflung places of the province and a lot more!" she said.

But this young lady remains steadfast to pursue her dreams by having time management and "a matter of priorities."

Corpuz treats the people around her as her motivations to achieve her dream.

She said: "They motivate me to run an extra mile and of course learning from experiences whether they are good or bad. Moreover, I'm really blessed to have a lot of people who give me utmost understanding and love; that pushes me to go farther!"

When asked how she felt to be one of the finalists, Corpuz said she felt overwhelmed because it all started as a dream. This, she said, has given her an opportunity to connect with the people with the same passion she has.

Leaving a message for her fellow students who want to reach their goals in life, Corpuz said: "Believe. That is the first step in everything. Believe in your God-given potential and never be afraid to transcend. Never stop to realize the beauty of a dream for it will take you to places you'll never imagine."

Corpuz is currently studying Law in her alma mater.---Leah De Fiesta/ AUF Intern
