THE LIFESTYLE OF A BORN TEACHER

-

CONSUELO F. TUPAZ There are born teachers and teachers. If teaching is our choice of profession, then probably we will enjoy our field of work. Teaching is the mother of all the professions. There will be no doctors, engineers, architects, lawyers and other professionals if there are no teachers. In the educational system, devoted teachers are much appreciated. It is a must for a teacher to be a born teacher or the profession is not only a profession but a mission for them.

The lifestyle of a born teacher is evident when the teacher finds theprofessionasacalling.Ifhe/shefindcommittedtotheprofession,thenhe/shewillbecomeapassionateteacher.Abornteacher encourages students/pupils, he/she is resourceful in order to disseminate the lessons lively and interestingly. There are many works, many reports, many accomplishments, narratives and other forms to besubmittedforschoolfiles,divisionreports/districtreportsetc.a dedicated teacher works one at a time and he/she does not complain.

The positive attitude of a teacher is a teacher with willingness and not just obedience. They work/teach with enthusiasm and excellence. He/she keeps himself/herself ready to the lessons which the learners deserve the best. Teachers are also learner’s confidant. As second parents, learners often feel comfortable to confide their qualms, queries, problems and heartaches to their teachers. These young minds must be guided and guarded most of the time. There are many cases nowadays that children are being abused physically, emotionally, verbally and the worst is that they are being bullied through media exposure. The young people’s life is threatening. Teachers play an important role on this matter. It is a MUST for us to be a concern educator and mentor to our students/ pupils so that these will feel their sense of worth and belongingness.

Serving beyond the required time is another attitude of born teachers. It is a pleasure for them if they can extend their services for the call of duty. Being cheerful, fine in words and actions, gentle, beautiful and intelligent are among the few character traits of a teacher who can inspire and transpire people in the family, school, community, country here and abroad.
