Star Magic's 'Mr. M' comes to the defense John Lloyd Cruz

-

STAR Magic boss Johnny Manahan has come to the defense of John Lloyd Cruz after videos of the Kapamilya star became viral on social media.

Cruz appeared to be drunk and was not his usual self in the video, which was taken during his recent trip to Bantayan Island in Cebu with rumored girlfriend Ellen Adarna and some non-showbiz friends.

Photos and videos of an intoxicated Cruz were uploaded online last weekend.

Manahan, head of Star Magic, the talent arm of ABS-CBN, has released a statement Monday evening through primetime newscast "TV Patrol".

He said Cruz was just "letting off some steam" from his hectic life in show business.

"John Lloyd Cruz works hard as an actor. 18-hour days at a stretch. He was just letting off some steam. In this age of an all pervasive social media, what is ok and innocent in private becomes worthlessly controversial in public," the statement read.

He added that Cruz learned his lesson and will be more careful in the future.

Cruz meanwhile took to Instagram to apologize over his viral videos.

"Diz iz mi lerning. Very humbling but I do apologize to the little boys & girls. No regrets babies just life revealing its raw beauty (sic)," he posted.

Cruz is one of the top leading men of ABSCBN. He starred in a number of small and big screen hits such as "One More Chance" and its sequel "A Second Chance" with perennial love team Bea Alonzo and "A Very Special Love" franchise with Sarah Geronimo.

He also endorses medicine, fast food chain, shampoo, and milk products.
