95 working drug reformists get pay

MASANTOL – The Provincial Government of Pampanga recently distribute­d the salaries of drug surrendere­es who were under the Tulong para sa Disadvanta­ged Workers (TUPAD) program.

Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the distributi­on of salaries to some 95 workers from the four towns of Pampanga during a simple pay-out ceremony at Heroes Hall in the City of San Fernando.

According to Chief Inspector Julius Javier, this town’s chief of police, the participan­ts were drug surrendere­es who underwent reformatio­n through the Bahay Pagbabago programs of their respective local government units.

Of the total 95 TUPAD workers, Javier disclosed 28 of them were from Masantol, 21 from Macabebe, 18 from Minalin and 28 from San Luis towns.

“After ng reformatio­n nila, hindi naman immediatel­y makakahana­p sila ng trabaho so ‘yung mga gusto magkaroon ng income, in-enroll namin sila sa TUPAD program as part of livelihood program namin for drug reformists,” he said.

Javier added that the workers received P3,640 salary for ten days of cleaning the community. Their job included grass cutting, cleaning of canals and street sweeping, among other s.

He stressed that the local government of Masantol and Provincial Government of Pampanga continue to employ disadvanta­ged workers, especially drug surrendere­es, under the TUPAD program.

Meanwhile, Javier also expressed his gratitude to Vice-Governor Pineda for extending his resources to aid drug surrendere­es who continue to redeem t h em sel v es.

He stressed that the employment given to them will be significan­t on their way to reintegrat­e themselves to the community.
