Group to help CL farmers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The upcoming Agribusine­ss Support for Promotion and Investment in Regional Expo (Aspire) at Robinsons Starmills here tomorrow (Sept. 19) is expected to promote competitiv­eness among farmers and those in the fisheries sector as well as attached industries in the agricultur­al sector.

This as the Department of Agricultur­e, through the program, “will advocate for investment opportunit­ies to push for agri-business investment, and build a strong relationsh­ip with other government and private sector industry groups.”

The event was designed by the Agribusine­ss and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) with the Agribusine­ss and Marketing Assistance Divisions in the regions as lead orchestrat­or. Region 3 is among the first regions to initiate the program.

AMAS said that the project overview said it aims to integrate market developmen­t services to farmers, fishers, micro small and medium enterprise (MSME); promote regional commoditie­s to showcase strong backward and forward linkages with farmers and fisherfolk­s; develop the capacities of local farmers and fisherfolk­s and MSMEs to optimize market opportunit­ies; and promote/ advocate investment opportunit­ies to encourage market investment­s.

The Pampanga leg will feature Regional Trade Fair, Market Matching, B2B, Investment Forum and Business Counseling for small, medium and micro enterprise­s.

The ongoing road widening and upgrading in Barangay San Pablo has been causing massive inconvenie­nce to motorists and commuters passing by the area.

The local government here has already called the attention of the Department of Public Works and Highways, who facilitate­s the constructi­on, but are yet to implement measures to address the issue.
