STO. TOMAS – The local government here headed by Mayor Johnny Sambo yesterday turned over a new rescue vehicle to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Sto. Tomas.

Sambo said the refurbished Mitsubishi L300 is intended for the quick response of the BFP on fire incidents as well as other accidents that transpire in town.

“Dati itong ambulansya natin. Ngayon pinaayos natin at inassign sa BFP para may extrang vehicle sila for quick rescue and response,” he explained.

Sambo said that aside from fire trucks, a rescue vehicle is also important to immediately bring wounded victims to hospitals.

He stressed that more than properties, the priority of firemen and other responding agencies must be the human lives that are affected by the incident.

He urged the BFP to create a rescue team which will act as the first line of responders not only during fire incidents, but with other accidents and tragedies as well.

“Ang BFP mas flexible sa pulis when it comes to rescue. Pwede silang pumasok sa mga establishments even without warrants, at may mga trainings din naman sila kaya maganda na ma-equip din sila ng mga kailangan nila na gamit,” he said.

BFP-3 Assistant Director for Administration Superintendent Alven Valdez extended the gratitude of the BFP to Sambo and the local government for its assistance to the bureau.

In exchange, Valdez vowed to properly utilize the new vehicle in the rescue and response activities of the fire agency.
