This topic may have been talked about many times and the term K to 12 Program may have been overused but it’s still nice to talk about this issue once in a while.

Many people are already aware of the K to 12 Program of the DepEd. The program has added 2 years in the basic education. That’s it. But not everybody knows about the real reason behind that. All they know is the “additional 2 years” in high school wherein we already have the Junior High School for Grades 7 to 10 and the Senior High School for Grades 11 and 12.

This program has helped improve and set higher standards in the Philippine Education System (PES). With that, with the complete trust and faith to our educators, our graduates are expected to be globally competitive with the skills gained throughout the entire program. Of course, they will have to help our country for them to become productive citizens. The good news is that we will reap the fruits of our labor for we will witness the first batch of the K to 12 Program to graduate this school year 2017-2018.

As a teacher, with a first-hand experience of the program, the first year was confusing and distressing. Maybe because of the sudden changes. But nevertheless, the show must still go on. With the help of trainings, seminars, and a lot of explaining, everything was clarified and the program has been embraced and implemented religiously by the whole Education industry. It’s not that because it’s mandated but because at end, the whole nation will benefit in the program. Much has been said and much has been done for the K to 12 Program. Here’s one hoping and praying all will be well. — oOo— I at Pampanga High School
