Nucom wants well-lived life for elderly

APALIT - A convenient and well-lived life is what Mayor Peter Nucom wants Apaliteño elderly to experience as they seize the twilight of their respective lives.

Speaking before almost a thousand senior citizens of this town during their quarterly pay-out, Nucom said elderly deserve to enjoy their retirement years after spending decades working for their families and communities.

“Yari na pu ing panaun ning kekayung pamagserbisyu, paburen yu naman ikaming ken gobyerno ing magserbisyu kekayu (Your time of working is over, allow us, government employees, to serve you now),” Nucom told benefici ar i es.

Nucom asked the understanding of senior citizens for receiving small amounts from the government after all the years they spent working.

He noted that aside from the monthly pension, they still can seek assistance from the local government for their hospital needs.

“Panupaya yu pu nung malati lamung halaga pero sana makasawup la pu ken panulu yu. Nung nanu man pu ing asawup mi pa, lumapit kayu pu ken munisipyu (We are sorry for the small amount of money we can give you but we hope they can be of big help for your maintenance medicines. Whatever help you need, don’t hesitate to come to the municipal hall),” he said.

Nucom also vowed to continue looking for funds to further assist the indigent senior citizens, especially those who are taking maintenance medicines.

He added that a significant amount of the 2018 budget will also be allocated for the health sector to attend to the needs of the Apaliteños.

During the distribution, a total of 975 senior citizens from the town’s 12 barangays received their monthly pension.

Each elderly received P1,500 which covers the months of July, August and September.

Association of Senior Citizens Chairman Cesar Sigua, for his part, extended his gratitude to Nucom for his continuous assistance to the elderlies of Apalit.

He disclosed that the local chief executive has been very generous to the Apaliteño senior citizens and has always prioritized them.

“Malapit ang puso ni Mayor Peter sa mga matatanda, at pagmamahal ang naisusukli namin sa kanyang kabaitan,” he shared.
