TEACHERS + PARENTS = SUCCESS

One way for students to lose interest in attending school is when we don’t allow them to use their creativity inside the classroom. When this happens, they lose interest and grow restless. They would feel that they don’t fit being in school, and they would beg their parents not to bring them to school anymore.

One of our roles as teachers is to evaluate our students based on their performance, academically and in extra-curricular activities. Parents, on the other hand, should encourage their children to learn – not just inside the classroom, but also at home.

Education actually starts at home. Parents, aside from teaching their children their ABCs and 123s, should guide their development physically, emotionally and cognitively. The mother and father provide an essential part in the child gaining his first knowledge. When a child reaches a certain age, it would be the teacher’s turn to educate the child.

In school, teachers should evaluate children not just through test scores, but through performance.

Teachers should prepare their tests in such a way that they tap a student’s creativity. They may be no right or wrong answers, but children must be able to explain how they came up with their answer.

Not being able to use their creativity can be constricting. Early on, children’s potentials should be tapped. That way, both parents and teachers are able to harness these potentials.

This would be beneficial to them come adulthood, when their creative aspects could be used for growth and development. In fact, many companies are looking for creative individuals which could contribute to the growth of the business.

Our schools should be helping students discover their unique gifts and abilities, and find their voice and become critical and creative thinkers.

These skills can be developed with the help of both parents and teachers. A child’s holistic development means enhancing his abilities, which can be seen at an early age. So let’s capitalize on this.

Let’s guide our children into trying to do anything they set their minds on. Having helpful parents and teachers will assure that their minds would be developed the best way possible. — oOo—
