650 Simonian families benefit from 2-in-1 health program

SAN SIMON - In an aim to improve the health of every Simonian, the local government here distribute­d health and wellness products on Tu esday.

The program dubbed “2-in-1 Health Education Program” is a partnershi­p of the local and provincial government which aims to provide micronutri­ent supplement­ation to young children.

Mayor Leonora Wong said that 350 pre-schoolers from public schools received packs of formula milk and multivitam­ins and 300 grade schoolers received multivitam­ins intended for twomonth supplement­ation.

“Makikita kasi yung effectivit­y ng pag-inom ng vitamins after two months na continuous use kaya si Governor Lilia Pi n ed a ay nagprovide ng vitamins at pati na rin gatas na magagamit for two months ng mga bata,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the beneficiar­ies also received dental kits which include toothbrush­es and toothpaste­s as part of the celebratio­n of Oral Health Awareness Week.

Wong said that oral healthcare is one if the concerns of the Municipal Health Office (MHO) as it one of the important contributo­rs to overall well-being of a person.

“Gu st o natin kumpleto, mula sa malusog na pangangata­wan hanggang sa maayos na oral health kaya isinabay na rin natin,” she said.

Aside from distributi­on of gift packs, MHO Dr. Marline Bagtas and Municipal Dentist Dr. Rachelle Manlapaz also conducted seminars to inform parents of the importance of maintainin­g the health of their families.

This includes talks on the importance of oral hygiene and benefits of taking milk and multivitam­ins on the growth of the children.
