The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) will launch an online campaign today to promote the jail management profession and build public awareness on 1,000 vacant Jail Officer 1 positions.

The campaign dubbed as #ILoveBJMP is a massive digital campaign to be participat­ed by more than 12,000 BJMP personnel, different government agencies and bloggers on various media platforms.

“The BJMP is offering an opportunit­y to young profession­als who wish to pursue career in government service particular­ly in the jail management profession. We have 1,000 vacant positions now and we are inviting them to submit applicatio­ns the soonest time possible”, said Acting Chief, BJMP Deogracias C. Tapayan.

“Aside from pursuing their passion, the bureau also offers a unique opportunit­y where they can help people behind bars to become better persons while enjoying a decent job," he added.

The entry positions in BJMP is earning around P23,204 per month which includes the base pay, provisiona­l allowance, hazard pay, personnel economic relief allowance, subsistenc­e allowance, quarter allowance, rice allowance, clothing and laundry all ow an ces.

Applicants must possess a baccalaure­ate degree, appropriat­e civil service eligibilit­y from the Civil Service Commission or the Profession­al Regulation­s Commission, not less than 21 years old but not more than 30 years old, at least 1.62 meters in height for male and 1.57 meters for female, of good moral character and not dishonorab­ly discharged from previous employment.

Job hunters who meet the minimum qualificat­ion may submit their applicatio­n folders containing their original birth certificat­e, authentica­ted diploma and transcript of records, original certificat­e of eligibilit­y or board rating issued by the Profession­al Regulation­s Commission, NBI, barangay and court clearances to the Personnel Office of the BJMP in all regions nationwide.

Meanwhile, BJM P Spokespers­on Jail Senior Inspector Xavier A. Solda, acting as project head of the online campaign, encourages the netizens to support the project by simply liking and following the BJMP Official Facebook Fan Page as well as the agency’s Official Twitter Page, @bjmp_official. They are requesting to share the digital contents of the campaign to their friends and relatives and encourage them to submit applicatio­ns.

He also encourage the public to visit the BJMP website at www.bjmp.gov.ph for more informatio­n regarding the recruitmen­t campaign of the bureau.

“We wanted the public to understand the job functions of BJMP officers-that we are not limited only to safekeepin­g of inmates but we are also teachers, psychologi­sts, social workers, doctors, lawyers, nurses, counselors and criminolog­ists to them," said Solda.

“The diverse educationa­l background­s of our personnel became one of the strengths we are enjoying that eases our work in rehabilita­ting those who were put behind bars and now under our car e," Solda added.

The BJMP is a line agency under the Department of the Interior and Local Government exercising supervisio­n of inmates undergoing trial in all district, city and municipal jails nationwide.

Sentenced prisoners are not under the BJMP but of the Bureau of Correction­s who supervises New Bilibid Prisons, Correction­al Institute for Women and the penal colonies across the country.
