PAL set to start flights from Clark to Catanduanes
With the new route, the home to the “majestic waves”will be approximately an hour and a half away for leisure travelers from Central and Northern Luzon, PAL announced.
“We are pleased to inform you of the introduction of new route: Clark to Virac v.v. to be operated by PAL codeshare partner 2P utilizing Bombardier Q400 effective 18 December 2017,” said PAL’s information bulletin.
The upcoming flight to “the surfer’s paradise” leaves Clark International Airport at 6:00 am. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The return flight leaves Virac, Catanduanes at 8:00 am on the same days.
Virac, Catanduanes, the 12th largest island of the Philippines boasts of idyllic beaches with powdery sands and coral formations. Mysterious caves with historical significance to compliments its beauty and mystic would surely enchant the travelers according to the Department of Tourism (DOT) website.
“Nature trails and panoramic views such as the one viewed from the grounds of the PAGASA Weather Radar Station is a photo enthusiast dream-come-true. A religious pilgrim will be well satisfied with a tour of the churches and religious shrines in the Island. The Museo De Catanduanes with its fine collection of artifacts is a must for the history buff,” said the Department of Tourism website.
PAL offers an introductory one-way fare of P1,288 for Virac, Cantanduanes (exclusive of government taxes).
Last October 1, PAL launched a four times a week service to Basco, Batanes from Clark.
These new routes are part of the flag carrier's aim to develop Clark as its third hub of operations, following Manila and Cebu.
PAL has started taking delivery of 12 new Q400 turboprops that are being used to open new inter-island routes.
