The rise of the Korean Wave

ITY OF SAN FERNANDO – People were chanting and screaming with their lungs out to the songs of their fandom.

These are just normal if you’re a Korean pop or K- Pop fan.

If there is one thing that we can learn today is the rise of the Korean wave in terms of music, dance and dramas.

The Korean culture, their music and dramas surely captured the hearts of the Filipino people of all ages and touched them in their daily lives.

Recently, Kpopjjang Production­s - a production based in Pampanga, held their event at the SM Pampanga Trade Hall - the “Kzoned 5: 2 cool 4 skool” that features the talents of K- Pop fanatics of all ages.

The said event started way back 2015 and is now on its fifth installmen­t and in much larger space. With just two years, the event gained popularity to all K- Pop fans with different walks of life around Pampanga and other nearby cities.

Head organizer Ji Hyuk, mentioned that the participan­ts for this year’s share their small beginning in organizing the event. With a hundred participan­ts in their first event, this brings out that the Korean wave is growing and dominating the scenes of music and dance.

He also said that this kind of events gives the K-Pop fans the experience of Korean culture through dance and songs of their favorite artists.

During the event, participan­ts came from different places but gathered with a same vision to show their appreciati­on and an opportunit­y to meet other K-Pop fans. These emphasized that Filipinos love to fantasize and appreciate other cultures.
