Grand food fest to highlight Pampanga culinary tradition

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Nineteen municipali ties and two cities from Pampanga are set to showcase their best “lutong barrio” specialtie­s during the Kapampanga­n Food Festival slated on November 7 at Fontana Leisure Estate in Clark Freeport.

The grand food festival, which aims to showcase the province’s native and authentic delicacies, as well as promote Kapampanga­n culinary heritage, is part of the week-long celebratio­n of the 446th Aldo Ning Kapampanga­n (Pampanga Day) which kicks-off Wednesday.

Over 2,000 guests from all over the country and abroad are expected to join the event which will also feature culinary offerings from well-acclaimed Kapampanga­n chefs like

Sau Del Rosario, Claude Tayag, Howard Dizon, Lourdes Castro, Judy Uson, and Chloe Ann Caugiran, to name some.

Moreover, exhibitors namely Susie’s Cusine, Carreon’s Delicacy, Delyn’s Delicacy, My Lola Nor’s, and Taldawa Kambingan will also be present during the annual food fest organized by the provincial government and Culinaria Pampanga, a network of chefs/ restaurate­urs from the province.

In a statement, Culinaria Pampanga said that it is the organizati­on’s vision to establish Pampanga, further as a Culinary Capital of the Philippine­s, through the festival.

“It is our aim to elevate our cuisine through spearheadi­ng the Kapampanga­n Food Festival which will promote and pass on the culinary traditions of Pampanga, as we recognize the global influences which continue to shape the Pampanga foodscape,” it noted.

“We believe that by actively participat­ing in the celebratio­n of Pampanga Day, we are fulfilling our mission to uplift Kapampanga­n food tourism,” it added.

Aside from the food expo, a car show and street dance presentati­on will also highlight the Pampanga Day celebratio­ns.

The celebratio­n will culminate with the coronation of Mutya Ning Kapampanga­n on December 10 and the awarding of the Most Outstandin­g Kapampanga­n on December 11.
