— Jun Jaso/Pampanga PIO PSWDO orients 200 drug reformists, kin on parenting, community-based interventi­on

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 200 drug reformists and their kin were recently given orientatio­n on parenting services and communityb­ased brief interventi­on to motivate the participan­ts who are at risk of substance abuse to change their behaviour and totally give up their use of illegal drugs.

During the orientatio­n initiated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office (PSWDO) at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol compound, the drug reformists were given an understand­ing on how their substance use put them in danger.

Annabelle Pecina, Social Welfare Officer IV, said some of the participan­ts in the said activity were graduates from of three-month reformatio­n program conducted at their respective Bahay Pagbabago Dalan ning Pamagbayu in Floridabla­nca and Arayat towns.

Pecina added that the kin of the drug reformists were empowered to increase their capabiliti­es in nurturing their r el at i ves.

The Pampanga Police Provincial Office recorded more than 20,000

drug surrendere­rs in the province since the implementa­tion of the provincial government’s program dubbed as “Dalan ning Pamagbayu”. This program is focused on the reformatio­n and rehabilita­tion of Kapampanga­ns who fell to the ills of illegal drugs. After the orientatio­n, the attendees were given food packs as part of the provincial government’s assistance in their reintegrat­ion.
