EdPam instructs CHO to monitor Angelenos who got dengue vaccine

-

ANGELES CITY Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has instructed the City Health Office (CHO) to get the data and monitor all those who have been vaccinated for Dengue by the local government.

Immediately after the flag ceremony on Monday, Pamintuan told City Health Officer Dr. Lenario Santos to get the status of all students who took part in the dengue vaccination program of the Department of Health (DOH).

This came in after updated information on the vaccine has been released by DOH wherein the results of the clinical trials showed possible risks for those who received the injection.

Vice-Gov. Dennis Pineda and Pampanga Councilors League President Fritzie David-Dizon together with department heads turned over yesterday pushcarts for scavengers amounting to P1.5-million during yesterday’s Pampanga Day celebration at the Capitol.

The program’s implementation started last school year, covering all 9-year-old pupils or Grade 4 students. Sanofi Pasteur, the manufacturer of Dengvaxia, said more cases of severe disease could occur among those given the vaccine who have no previous history of dengue.

Santos said that there have been 6,040 students who received Dengue vaccination by the city government.

“We are currently reaching out to all those who got vaccinated by our national program to know their status and to monitor them regularly,” Santos added.

The City Health Office will also coordinate with the parents and the teachers to assist in monitoring.

Meanwhile, the Angeles City local government unit will also focus on the prevention of getting infected by dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Pamintuan stressed the importance of maintaining a clean community and well-sanitized households in order to avoid these infections. –AC-CMG
