NBI seizes counterfeit product from Clark duty free shops
CLARK FREEPORT — Counterfeit bags, shoes, shirts and other products were confiscated from two duty shops and a botique here by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Thursday.
Gary Ruiz, special investigator of NBI capital region, said that they conducted the raid on the Clark establishments following complaints from imported garments manufacturing companies.
“Ibat-ibang klase at disenyo ng imported ng brand ng polo shirt, medyas, sapatos, at bag ang kinumpiska,” Ruiz stated in his report.
After an inspection, NBI operatives discovered the products’quality.
“This is in connection sa finile na reklamo ng Lacoste, nag-request sila sa NBI sa tip na may mga nagbebenta ng counterfeit Lacoste ditto,” the NBI official said.
A polo shirt worth P4,000 is being sold at P400 inside one of the duty free shops, it was learned.
“Tulad ng mga polo shirt, ang original mabibili sa halagang P4,000 habang sa tindahan ito ay makakabili na sa halagang P400,”the NBI official said.
The NBI is conducting a follow up investigation to identify the owners of the duty free shops caught selling fake products.
The bureau is also set to coordinate with the Clark Development Corporation and local government to prepare charges against the Clark l ocat or s.
