PERSPECTIVE FROM A NOVICE

-

AGNES V. MERCADO

“You will never know what a teacher’s life is unless you become one,” that was a quotation I have read in the shirt that was wore by a group of people, and more of them wearing statement shirts pertaining that describing to a person who considered a “Hero’.

Questions running in my mind are they really a hero? Can you be called a hero when your pocket is empty? Can you be called a hero when you’re still up late at night in front of a laptop? Can you be called a hero facing tons of paper on your table? Can you be called a hero when you’re feeding the mind and heart of numbers of students 5 times, 40 hours a week? Can you be called a hero when you’re extending hours at work without asking extra payment for it?

Being a hero doesn’t need to shed a blood nor to kill a thousand of enemies in a battle field. Heroism echoed silently in the four corners of a classroom. A voice that can change the life of young mind that can transform our society.

Real heroes don’t wear capes they teach, Yes! Filipino teachers are the mirrors of Heroism; they are the fountain of excellence. Being a teacher in the Philippines doesn’t makes you rich and popular hence, in the end of the day you will realized how happy and fulfilled you are after the long day of battle for the ignorance.

It is indeed Teachers are the root of all profession they are the candle that lights the life of other and I’m proud of it, I’m proud to be a one of a thousand hero who’s combatting for the education of Filipino Youth.
