CL police holds earthquake drill

CAMP OLIVAS - The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) on Friday joined the conduct of the 4th Nationwide Simultaneo­us Earthquake Drill.

Chief Superinten­dent Amador Corpus, Central Luzon police director, said that the earthquake simulation aims to prepare Philippine National Police PNP personnel and other employees inside the camp for an earthquake and other disasters.

“The importance of the drill is to help participan­ts understand that when there is an earthquake it is safest to drop to the ground, find cover and hold on,” Corpus said.

The activity started by a one minute blowing of siren, wherein all PNP personnel, teachers, students and other employees inside their respective offices drop on the floor, find cover under their tables and hold on to it.

Afterwards, all participan­ts went outside, with both hands covering their heads since they could be battered with falling

objects, walked in a single file and proceeded to the designated evacuation area at the Parade Ground located infront of the Admin Building. Corpus said the earthquake drill was made so as not to cause panic while an earthquake is atking place.

The Earthquake drill is an annual exercise designed for the awareness, preparedne­ss and readiness of PRO3 PNP personnel and employees during an actual situation.

More than1,000 PNP personnel including teachers, students and other employees inside the camp participat­ed in the drill. Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection also participat­ed in the exercise. (Ric Sapnu)
