ACSCI WON IN AN INTERNATIONAL MATH CONTEST

The Division of Angeles City implemented the PROJECT ROGER (RAISING competencies Of GIFTED learners through ENRICHMENT and REMEDIATION activities). The project helped the students to enhance their mathematical proficiency and was able to make them improved in the area of Mathematics, thus, qualified in the international math contest.
Project ROGER aims to raise the competencies of gifted learners through enrichment and remediation activities. The thrusts of developing and empowering human resources through training programs and the vision of making students become globally competitive particularly in international mathematics competitions shared by The Mathematics Trainers’Guild. It is for these reasons the Mathematics Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MTFKTP) was instituted. It has been developed to help teachers motivate, stimulate and develop mathematically gifted and talented Grades 3-12 learners The program aims to:
1. Foster interest in and awareness of the power of mathematics among gifted learners in selected schools;
2. Provide stimulating mathematics problems;
3. Train identified gifted learners and prepare them for national and international Math competitions; and
4. Broaden students sphere of experience to enhance their global competitiveness. Proof of this was that the students of Angeles City Science High School, Louise Ada Reyes and John Vincent Chua, both bagged Silver medals in the recently held 2017 World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) in Beijing, China on Nov. 22-26, 2017.Another ACSci students: Maicakaryl s. Chua, Jenamari P. Bathan and Jonathan Gabriel G. Lay and Samantha Raine Bonifacio of Achievers SPED Center were awarded certificate of merit for having met the cut off score.
