Communicate more

NINE days into 2018 and major adjustments still need to be made. That’s as far as mind set and actions are concerned. I’m pretty sure that most everyone are still hung-over from the holidays and getting back into the rhythm of things is quite a challenge. That’s fine. Curiosity breeds invention and creativity. Here’s hoping that personal changes will lead to positive change in both home and work environments.

What’s in store for you and me in the New Year? The dates and numbers won’t change but our approach to things forthcoming should. Personal contentment and satisfaction levels need re-adjustments based on what was experienced in the previous year. When I had a talk with my team, I requested that our over-blown egos be thrown into the trash bin. I shared my dream and I asked them to share that dream with me. And the dream was - communicate more!

Communicating is getting through - meaning, the message should be clearly understood. The comfort zones and “what-we-wereused-to” needs revisiting. Moving forward means looking at things and situations differently. It means looking at ourselves differently so that we can respond and react to familiar situations with unfamiliar methods. Good luck to me. Good luck to you, too! But the key, as I see it, is communicating more.

January in the Philippines is Santo Nino month. The celebrations all over the country speak of our undying faith to our Maker. Communicating with Him, through prayer, should be at the top of our list for 2018. Once we do, I’m sure we’ll be better off with whatever comes around.

Even writing this missive seems like a gargantuan task. Getting back into the rhythm sure takes time. But we’ll be fine. Sooner or later, there will be more stories to tell. Just communicate more!
