THE PARENT-TEACHER TANDEM IN EDUCATION
MELANIE M. MANIO
It is indisputable that both parents and teachers should work together to ensure proper education of a child.
It is a fact that the child first learns at home, then school nurtures that foundation laid by the parents.
Proper education can be ensured for children when you the parent becomes involved in a positive way in their education, that is, in tandem with the teacher. A parent’s positive involvement lets children realize the importance of their education. It also sends the message of the level of expectation for them.
Numerous studies have confirmed that children generally do better when parents get involved in their education not just academically but in ways such improved attendance, improved self-esteem and self-confidence, more likely to graduate, reduced chances of drug and alcohol involvement and reduced violent behaviour.
As such, when the parent-teacher tandem is in touch with each other, the progress of a child is monitored and kept at bay.
Ensuring proper education for children requires the parent-teacher involvement and this encourages and motivates children to work harder and stay at school . — oOo—
