Bataan’s ‘bunker’ lures gov’t offices, call centers

BALANGA CITY— As the new capitol building called “The Bunker” nears completion, high speed internet and cheaper power rates are among the comeons for government offices and call centers.

Touted as first of its kind in the country, the seven-storey building will house provincial government offices and will provide two floors of 6,800 meters for commercial and other public offices.

Surrounding “The Bunker” are sites for business process outsourcing centers, hotel, auditorium, multi-use facilities, park, restaurants and parking spaces.

Other amenities of the new government center include a secured compound with guards and closed circuit televisions, uninterrupted power supply, business one-stop shop, and national government agencies under one roof.

With the projected establishment of call centers and business one-stop shop, Bataeños may land careers nearer their homes while business processing is made easier for investors.

Seen to be finished this year, “The Bunker” will enable the Province of Bataan to achieve its vision of attaining top-level human development index in the Philippines by 2020, according to Governor Albert Garcia.

“This will be the Philippines’first one-stop shop that will connect all agencies from national to local to facilitate business permits and all other documents needed by our investors and businessmen,” Garcia said.

The bunker building pays tribute to World War II heroes of Bataan, with the structure symbolizing a defensive military fortification.
