# Trending: Move over Salt Bae, 2018 Chef Superstar is here

-

Here’s something short but lit.

Don’t want be left behind in conversations? Get your google ready because trends are about to roll.

It was exactly a year ago when we met “Salt Bae” yes!

The Turkish chef turned ‘meme’ who broke the Internet after demonstrating how to salt meat with flair. And heck we fell in l ove!

Thus, Nurset Gökçe became 2017’s first real viral sensation as his image and several versions were reproduced all over the world. It took off and never got old.

But that was then.

This 2018, Salt Bae is taking a backseat to make some room in the ‘viralsphere’ for ‘Cilantro Papi,’the alias given to Mexican chef Rogelio Rivera who’s crashed Snapchat and now Twitter with his unusual chopping extraordinaire style.

Similar to trimming a hedge or clipping a beard, Rogelio tackles a monster-sized bunch of coriander, starting with the stems and making his way up to the leaves.

All the hype began when a certain Rebecca Castañeda posted a snapchat video of Rivera working his magic on coriander in her father’s resto, El Camino Real in Fullerton California.

Consequently, she received heaps of requests on Snapchat to see the video that she eventually uploaded it to Twitter, where it predictably took off even further.

The video has been viewed almost five million times and still counting. Staggering, right?

Oh those are 2:20 minutes I’m never getting back. But I’m cool with it. And social media agrees.

Stay Active until our next chat!
