TRANSFORMING A SCHOOL INTO A CREATIVE SCHOOL

Learning environment plays a vital role in developing the totality of a child. Skills must be tapped in order to make an individual competent to face the challenges of the changing society. It is, in the school that the skills in numeracy , literacy, interpersonal and life skills are honed. The mathematical abilities are being enhanced through the various activities being provided to the learners.
The day to day learning experiences inside the classroom are being complemented with remedial programs and other interventions that would address the needs of the learners . The skills in literacy are also being intensified through the different activities being given both in English and Filipino subjects. Instructional materials which are indigenized, innovative and with the application of contextualization and localization are being utilized. It is also through the extra-curricular activities of the students that their values are being developed. Dealing with students of their age and with learners of different personalities is also a main concern and this can be done through spiritual activities given to Catholics and Non-Catholics, thus strengthening their relationship with the God Almighty. Love of Self and Family are also being emphasized through the different programs such as Family Day, Gift Giving during Christmas, Symposia on Health and Sanitation inside and outside the home, First Aid in the Home and the like.
The critical thinking skills of the learners is likewise intensified through the experiments and researches being done either inside or outside the school premises. To transform a school into a Creative school, one must always bear in mind that the learners are the center and the foremost reason in all the activities done inside the school, having contented and competent learners is the result of having competent and contented teachers. — oOo—
