HUMOR IN TEACHING

-

MILAGROS D. VICENTE

It is a man’s privilege to go to school and have education, a necessity rather than a choice, for personal and economic growth a life changing experience.

School is fun, a place where you can make friends a place for learning, to know the wonders and mystery of the world. But this joy have seem to subdue; students seeing attending classes as a heavy burden, a hellish Monday to Thank God Its Friday feeling every week. What happened to the system?

We live in an era where grades are more valuable than learning. Hence, students pay, make time and effort to have grades and not to learn. Though the teachers have the motives for the class to learn, a student who is not interested won’t just simply understand or even listen. Now should teachers use humor in order to catch attention, make the classes more fun and appealing, and for it to be more learning-centered?

However, students will feel more excited and comfortable about the lessons and discussions. Having a new idea about classes; a new perspective that could lead to boosting students productivity.

Through the effective, using this strategy have its risks such as inducing students to lack respect, and may give the wrong idea that classes are playtime.

Balancing a state so crucial has put teachers into a heavy yoke; they are made history makers, creating the future of this generation that will be also a history for tomorrow.

Teachers incorporate humor and imbibes values to make learning, fun, and lasting to the learners. — oOo—

One of the Cardinal objective of Education is Vocational efficiency, the learners are the heart of the Senior High School curriculum. According to Wikipedia, that there are two types of curriculum are provided for regular high school(public and private). These are Technical-Vocational Education-based TLE and Entrepreneurship Education –based TLE. The Technical- Vocational Education- based TLE is focused on technical skills development in any area. Five common competencies, based on the training regulations of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, are covered in the explanatory phase(Grade 7&8 ) mensuration and calculation, technical drafting, used of tools and equipment, maintenance of tool and equipment, and occupational health and safety. The specialization phase is from Grade 9 to 12.Although the secondary school is organized primarily for youth, the dynamic and really effective school provides continues service and is the educational center for all age groups in the community. The best means of securing the support of the community for youth education is to serve it in all areas of educational activity.

The high school administrator whose school offers work in these areas must be familiar with the very considerable body of literature dealing with specific policies and problems. Without a thorough knowledge of this vast field he will be unable to counsel and work with those of his staff engaged on it.
