CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— In an aim to improve the quality of life of Fernandinos, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago urged everyone to engage themselves in cycling culture.

The city mayor mentioned this over the weekend during the “Padyak para sa Kalusugan at Kalikasan,” an annual cycling caravan held in line with the celebration of the 17th Cityhood Anniversary of San Fernando, that aims to promote good health and a greener environment.

This year, the activity has attracted thousands of cyclists from more than 50 participating biker’s associations in the province.

These include the Cabalen Cyclists, Team Fernandino Cyclists, Pampanga Street Bikers, Arayat Siklista and Candaba Bikers Club, among others.

The 37 Kilometer journey began in front of the city hall traversing the towns of Mexico and Bacolor before finishing the route at the Heroes Hall in Barangay San Juan.

“Cycling is beneficial to us in many ways. Aside from being the most energy-efficient mode of transportation that reduces negative effects to mother nature, it also serves as a tool to enhance healthy lifestyle,” Santiago furthered.

He also mentioned about his goal to make the City of San Fernando more bicycle-friendly which is initiated through the creation of bicycle lanes in some major thoroughfares.

Meanwhile, also present during the activity were Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Kaganapan 2018 Chairperson Jun Pineda and Community Affairs Division Head Engr. Jose Diaz.— CSF-CIO
