LOOKING BACK…LOOKING FORWARD

-

JULIANA P. REYES

Six years ago, we embraced the change in our educational system. The government strictly implemented the newest curriculum in its system – the K-12 – the program as they say, that bridges to success, a preparation for future leaders towards development which everybody dreams of. It is a chance for them to experience a better education and will not be deprived of what should be learned instead they will be given the chance to master their specialized skills and talents.

Yet, everyone had a lot of queries then, doubting of the effect of this change to the financial status of parents and readiness of the learners but more so of the government. Will the availability of the rooms, teachers and learning kits/ materials suffice the needs of our future leaders? Can, the learners of the 21st century, cope up with the sudden changes? Undoubtedly, we cannot do anything about it but to embrace the change and be open minded for the innovations to our Philippine education.

And so, many are looking forward of the tremendous transition to our learners’performances and abilities. The time is coming, to see and to realize the effect of this change. Let us now judge in a careful and thoughtful way if we as educators did our part in honing our learners’talents and skills for them to be armed with the things they needed to battle with the life that is ahead of them. Let us see to it that the learners in our hand will be a productive individuals in the end and will be intellectually and globally competitive.

Right now, no more arguing and questioning, because these will never end the agony that we faced before and will still be facing in the near future. What we have to do is look forward and be ready to accept every challenges and changes that will always be at hand. Anyway, its not for us… its ”para sa bata, para sa bayan”.
