PSA to improve quality, accuracy of civil registration
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - In line with celebration of Civil Registry Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority Region III (PSA-3) recently vowed to improve the quality and accuracy of registering various documents applied for by public to the agen cy.
Anchored on the t h e m e # napapanahongCRVs, PSA- 3 Di r ect or Edgardo Pare stressed the importance of accurate information registered by each individual as PSA documents are considered legal and official.
This includes birth, marriage and death certificates, decrees, legal instruments, and judicial orders which are all registered to PSA as national records.
“This year’s celebration of Civil Registry Month is anchored on the theme # napapanahongCRVS as the quality and accuracy of data affects people’s civil status and legal documents,” Pare said.
Pare noted that they are now set to improve the electronic system they currently utilize to avoid instances of double registration which are usually encountered on birth and marriage certificat es.
“There are instances that when an individual had wrong information on his or her certificate, he reregisters himself through late registration to avoid the hassle of correcting it. But right now, we are trying to address such concern by requiring a certificate of no record first,” he said.
Aside from the said measure, Pare also disclosed other information dissemination and forum activities are set this month to further improve the services delivered by the agency.
“Among the activities lined up this month include presentation of the Results of the 20142015 Analysis of Causes for National Deaths for Action, discussion on Statutory Rules on Civil Registration, lecture on Civil Registration and Vital St at i st i cs (CRVS), and CRVS Interactive Challenge,” Pare added.
