City holds cityhood anniversary job fair
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago through its City Employment Services Division in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and SM Ci t y San Fernando Downtown held a Cityhood Job Fair on Friday at the said mall as part of the Kaganapan 2018 celebration.
More than 500 applicants flocked to the job fair and 26 companies participated, comprised of 20 local and six overseas companies.
City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Donny Sayre said the aim of the annual fair is to provide and open up careers for those who are still jobless, are fresh or vocational graduates for them to improve their quality of life.
“Sa katunayan, marami tayong inimbitahang kumpanya mapa pribado man yan o sa gobyerno upang makilahok sa fair na ito para mas malaki ang tsansa na madami ang makahanap ng trabaho,” Sayre said.
Santiago for his part said that the City Government of San Fernando is always willing to support and help the Fernandinos in creating livelihood opportunities since it is one of the administration’s priority.
“Ito ang una nating job fair sa taong ito, asahan niyong patuloy pa rin ang aming pagbibigay ng mas marami pang oportunidad na makapagtrabaho para sa mga Fernandinos,” Santiago said.
He also urged the job hunters to come in the city job fair and look for career opportunities that will fit in to their capabilities.
“Huwag niyong sayangin ang mga ganitong pagkakataon, dahil ito ang daan na magdadala sa inyo upang guminhawa ang inyong mga pamumuhay,” Santiago added.
Meanwhile, the City government recognized some companies for their exemplary support and providing employment in the city.
Also present during the program were DOLE Pampanga Chief Arlene Tolentino, SM City San Fernando Downtown Mall Manager Lana Erroba, Kaganapan 2018 Chairperson Jun Pineda, City Investment and Promotions Officer Engr.
