TREASURE THE CHILDREN

-

CHARMANE CRUZ DE GUZMAN

Today’s society is amidst of people whose mentality is to grab fortune and fame. Most often than not, children are oriented to study for monetary profit in the future. Psychologically, parents imprint on the minds of their children that the gauge for being successful is when they own a big house and own a car.

For this reason, parents work hard not just to earn a living but also to uplift their status in life. It is not bad to desire this thing, however; in their struggle to elevate their social standing, parents devote ample time with their work but spend only their spare time with their children. As a result, children is neglected so they hunger for love and attention of their parents.

Consequently, striving to get their parents’attention lead them to do awful things based on the different studies. Misconduct or misbehavior of children is associated with the kind of relationship they had at home. They can even carry this behavior inside the classroom.

Often, children who misbehave inside the classroom are those who thirst for attention which is known today as the attention seeker or KSP (kulang sa pansin). Dealing with the children’s behavior is a big challenge for the teachers. They have to be patient and understanding. They need to analyze every situation especially on the attitude shown by the pupils. As a second parents, they should not only nurture the mental faculties of children or pupils but also be careful in the development of their social and emotional well-being. Likewise, they should be given attention that their parents failed to provide.

Despite the negative attitude they have. Children are children. They are precious in the eye of the Lord. They are naïve. They should not be neglect, instead; they should be treasured for they are the hope of our motherland.
