DTI resolves 651 consumer complaints

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Department of Trade and Industry Region III (DTI3), along with its seven provincial offices, were able to resolve a total of 651 consumer complaints in 2017.

According to DTI-3 Director Judith Angeles, the said complaints were resolved through various methods implemente­d by different consumer protection offices of the agency.

“From the figure, 636 were resolved within 10 working days through mediation, while 15 were resolved within 20 working days through adjudicati­on,” Angeles di scl osed.

She added that majority of the complaints received were on product and service warranties and unfair sales acts.

Other subjects of complaints included price tag, product liability, product quality and safety, and no return no exchange policy.

Cellphones, refrigerat­ors and television­s remained to be the top three subjects of consumer complaints last year.

DENR likewise embarked on a massive informatio­n campaign to local communitie­s in the watershed as a strategy to prevent the occurrence of grass and forest fires, which may be caused by human activities.

The FMP is a 10 year-reforestat­ion project that aims to rehabilita­te the Pantabanga­n-Caranglan watershed, which is one of the biggest protected areas in Central Luzon.

It also seeks to strengthen the forestland management through the implementa­tion of collaborat­ive communityb­ased forest management strategy.

Since 2012, FMP has already establishe­d more than 7,000 hectares of plantation­s within the Pantabanga­nCarrangla­n watershed planted with 6.2 million indigenous forest and fruit tree seedlings.

The Pantabanga­n reservoir covers 8,000 hectares and supplies irrigation water to more than 80,000 agricultur­al lands in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Pampanga.— Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu/ PIA-3
