ACWD EXECS CHALLENGED: Live in villages without water
NGELES CITY — A city councilor here has challenged officials of the Angeles City Wa District (ACWD) to live in the two villages affected by month-long water shortage.
Councilor Jesus “Jay” Sangil has dared the ACWD officials, led by President Reynaldo Liwanag, to live for a month in Barangays Margot and Sapangbago to experience the sufferings of the residents.
“Panawagan ko po sa mga opisyales ng ACWD to come out from their comfort zone and personally join me in living in the affected villages,” Sangil said.
The village folks, including senior citizens and children, have to queue until midnight to fetch water from the Clark Water supply, according to Sangil.
“Ako na po ang magbabayad sa bahay na titirahan namin makita lamang at madanasan ang pumila at magpuyat para makaigib ng tubig,” he sai d .
“Makita rin nila ang mga bata at matatanda na nagaantay ng tubig,” he added.
Sangil urged the National Water Resources (NWRB) and the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to cancel the Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) of the ACWD.
Sangil even suggested that the Clark Water should take over the water services in the two barangays for “practical and logical”solution to the problem.
The Clark Water is adjacent with the two villages and the water provider inside the Freeport supplies bulk water to the ACWD, the councilor said.
“The ACWD then sells to the 20,000 residents of Barangays Sapangbato and Margot the water it gets from the Clark Water,” Sangil said.
This move will prevent other problems like the health of the residents, the official added.
“It is but just proper for ACWD to give up and give way to a more reliable water provider. Bayu pa mika health crisis kareng memaryu lalo na kareng anak (Before a health crisis hits villagers especially children),”Sangil said.
